    The curriculum of these construction management technology programs emphasizes the essential managerial skills in the construction industry. With these curriculums, the individual will learn the important construction materials and construction methods, blueprint reading, specifications in construction, occupational safety and health in construction, human resource management and scheduling.

    The construction management industry has excellent career opportunities. The demand for the construction industry is anticipated to increase until the year 2014. It is because the career opportunities for the construction industry exceed the number of qualified individuals in the construction industry workforce. The American Institute of Constructors and the Construction Management Association of America have established certification programs that are voluntary. The American Institute of Constructors is responsible for the designation of the certification for Associate Constructors and Certified Professional Constructors., while the Construction Management Association of America is the one responsible for the designation of the certification "Certified Construction Manager" to practitioners that meets their requirements. The individual must complete a self study course which covers all the important aspects in the field of construction management and must undergo and pass a technical examination.

    Some schools and universities offer master's degree on construction management. Master's degree holders have better employment opportunities and are usually employed by large construction management companies. While there are also some individuals who are holders of bachelor's degree in an unrelated field take up master's degree in construction management just to have better opportunities. Holders of doctoral degrees in construction management tend to become professors in construction management universities.
