    Construction Management Firms

Construction Management Firms are the "brain" of most construction projects nowadays where construction issues and decisions are made.

Until recently, it was the owners themselves that do the stuff intended for construction managers. Some may do it correctly while a number don't. Or if the owners don't have the skill or time, the responsibility is passed to the next man in authority which would mostly be the project engineers. Though competent construction-wise, engineers can't handle management duties irrelevant to their expertise. And believe it or not, a multi-billion corporate project don't just involved buildings and structures. It involves a great deal of everything: design planning, financing, scheduling, estimates, and hiring of contractors. And the next man on the job fails there miserably.

Such event initiated the importance of Construction Management Firms. They are the "brain" of the project, as opposed to the early schematic where the owner or the designer is the brain. And it is an effective brain, further studies allowed this newly developed branch of science excellent advancement. Now Construction Management Firms have the extensive understanding of construction management, construction accounting and finance and estimates, contractor contracts, project scheduling, structural design, building codes, business law, safety, and construction materials. All this is saying a lot about Construction Management Firms, who just doesn't exist 20 years ago.

The Science behind Construction Management Firms

The personnel within the construction management are still regular professionals that have an omniscient understanding of the construction, akin to having an overhead view. They tackle construction projects on the overhead level. Most of these professionals are mechanical, electrical, demolition and reconstruction, residential, civil engineers, architects and designers, accountants, and even healthcare specialists. What sets them apart is they operate as a whole and for the whole construction project, unlike the usual construction contractor whose concern is the building of the structure but leaves the other aspects like hiring of trade partners to boot.

    Construction Management Firms

Since the advent of Construction Management Firms, many offices now offer construction management services. And that isn't surprising, a recent survey had shown that infrastructure construction is become one of the booming business in the US.

One of the better known Construction Management Firm is the CH2M HILL who ranked as the number one for both Program Management and fee-based construction management for twice a year now on the survey made by Engineering
News-Record (ENR). Next in line is Parsons, a 100% employee-owned engineering and construction company that ended the 2005 with a revenue exceeding $3 billion.
